GoGo's Survive Growing-Up Woes
by Don Snowden
Excerpt from article:
The GoGo's have a distinctive style blending catchy melodies with punk energy that delivers with a colorful, finger-snapping flair onstage... the GoGos are one of the freshest attractions on the L.A. scene and a musicians' favorite.Madness was so taken with the band that plans are set for the GoGo's to open on the British ska band's next English tour.Jane: One of our original goals was to be as good, if not better, than the boys, and hopefully, someday put out a record that people would just recognize as good music. The GoGo's became a regulars attraction on the local club circuit, steadily improving and building a strong following in punk circles.Original GoGo material is a varied assortment of three minute songs marked by dynamic arrangements and an abundance of catch melodic hooks. The GoGo's suffered from the major labels' reluctance to sign them.Jane: It's really frustrating for everybody in L.A. because there is no one in the industry to support the bands. For almost three years the industry has been trying to ignore the scene and put it down. That's why we're leaving for England. We're sick of beating out heads against the record company walls.
