March 5, 1982 - Comedian/actor John Belushi dies of a drug overdose while he was staying at the Chateau Marmont hotel on the Sunset Strip.  He had recently been partying at On the Rox on located above the Roxy.

After John Belush dies of a drug overdose - rumors start to fly that Belinda Carlisle also may have died.  Belinda assures everyone she is alive and well.

...the GoGo's...have moved in the last 12 months from headlining 400-seat clubs to a point where than can play 18,000-seat arenas. 
The GoGos are one of the few hot commercial groups these days that also are a critic's favorite.

The Go-Go's are alive and well and recording in Los Angeles.  The all-female rock band, riding high on the music charts, has been beset by a rumor that its lead singer has died, but 'they are here in Los Angeles, and they're fine", said Betsy Alexander, national director of publicity for International Record Syndicate  (I.R.S.).  Lead singer Belinda Carlisle and the four other members of the band are cutting a new record, she said yesterday.

Tops in Pops -Billoard magazine charts


Beauty and the Beatwas the first album by a all-female band, (who played and wrote their own songs), to go
to #1, thus placing the Go-Go's in the history books. Beauty and the Beat would go 
on to sell over two million copies, being certified Gold and Platinum by the RIAA.
