OKI DOG
Oki Dog was located on Santa Monica Boulevard at Vista Street - right in the middle of boystown, West Hollywood. It had a great outdoor patio area where one could socialize for hours. Several of the core scenesters lived in the neighborhood, including the band members of X and the Plunger girls.
Oki became a punk hangout in the late seventies, probably because it was close to the Starwood and other Hollywood clubs. It was open late and made burritos as big as your
arm for under $3. Plus - it had a big, easy parking lot. However, as more and more scenesters started hanging out here, the neighbors would complained and the police would come around.
Eventually, Oki Dog was forced to relocate to another location.

The Tail ‘o the Pup opened in 1946 at the NW corner of La Cienega and Beverly Blvd. It was built shaped like a hot dog (designed by Milton Black). It is an excellent example of programmatic architecture.

A new site for the Pup was found a few streets away, at 329 San Vincente, just above Beverly Boulevard. However, in December of 2005, the Pup was forced to close down - possible forever. Pink'sLocated near the corner of Melrose and La Brea.
Pink's is another Los Angeles treasure. It is also the most famous hot dog stand in L.A. Paul PINK started his stand in 1939. It started off as a small wagon selling 10 cent chili dogs loaded with mustard and onions during the depression.
Back in the Day

Today Pink's is housed in a small structure and has been at the same location for 65 years. It is beloved by regulars, tourist and celebrities alike.
