2008 Show 30 January Chicago

CHICAGO - The House of Blues
30 January 2008
Wednesday, 9:00pm

ON THE GO - cold...cold...cold...cold... I made my way back to the Pittsburgh airport and returned the car.

VERY HIGH NOTE -I had about an hour before my flight to Chicago. Sitting at the gate I was just hoping my flight would not be canceled. Then I see - sittin' there too are - The GoGos! Yeah! They are on my flight! How cool is that?

I told them I really enjoyed the show last night at the Palace Theater. They are all so cute, all on their cell phones and munching down breakfast.

I asked Kathy, Gina and Charlotte to sign my ticket stub. Belinda and Jane were on the phone so I didn't get theirs.

I told them I was going to their shows in Chicago, St Louis etc and would meet my husband in Texas for the show in Austin. They thought that was cool. Unbelievable - but cool.

They sat in the front of the plane. I sat mid way back.

At Chicago O'Hare, I caught the Blue Line and took it to the downtown Clark/Lake station. From there was an easy (but freezing) 5 minute walk to my hotel, located just across the street from the Chicago House of Blues.

NOTES ON CHICAGO - cold...cold...cold...cold

The Get Go - THE House of Blues in Chicago is very impressive. Much more ornate
than the Hollywood HOB. Much bigger too. Pretty boisterous crowd. Had to watch my tail.

FOR STARTERS -- JANE introduced the opening band called Whore du Jour . She mentioned that they were her new friends from Madison, Wisconsin (where she is currently living?) Must be a pet project for her. She produce their just released CD called Back to School. But to tell ya the truth - Not that great. Sorry Jane. More like Bore du Jour.

HOW IT GOES -
The girls made their entrance to The Sound Of Music prelude music piping through the speakers. They hit things off with Surfin and Spying. Smooth set. Lots of fun.

The Set List was the same as last night in Greensburg, PA.

WORTH NOTING -
  • Jane joked about spending the day shopping in Chicago...but getting blown away in the process - one step forward, two steps back
  • Gina had her regular drum set tonight
  • Great energy, tight set, good sound, big crowd
  • They handed out the newest lyrics to Whole World Lots its Head
Fish can only grow on farms
The ozone up and went
The village idiot became
The US President

Fashion is for skeletons
Rehab's on the tube
You can go on ebay
And win some brand new boobs

Kids are burning pirate discs
And popping ritalin

HIGH NOTES - The Girls were awesome. The crowd enthusiastic.

They had a limited edition tour posters for sale. I got #6. Now I get to carry it around without getting it smashed for the next week. jeez.........

Instead of t-shirts, they should have been selling GoGo parkas!

LOW NOTES - The camera nazis were confiscating cameras right and left, but I managed to hold on to mine.

People must have thick coats around here.
